WingX Pro7 version 6.4

WingX Pro7 now displays traffic when available and obstacles.

Hilton Software, maker of the popular WingX Pro7 app, recently announced that version 6.4 is now available in the App Store. This upgrade adds a number of features, including ADS-B traffic and obstacles on the moving map screen.

The traffic display works with SkyRadar, a separate ADS-B receiver, and initially displays 1090 MHz traffic. Support for the other ADS-B frequency (978 MHz) is expected later this year. Traffic can be overlaid directly on the app’s moving map page, on either sectional or IFR enroute charts. Traffic information includes position, altitude and vertical trend.

Aircraft that are equipped with ADS-B Out in their panel will receive a customized traffic message, displaying all aircraft within 30 nm. For airplanes without ADS-B Out (the vast majority of airplanes today), ADS-B traffic may not be available in all areas, as it depends on another aircraft with ADS-B Out to create the traffic message.

Version 6.4 also supports obstacles on the moving map page, for added situational awareness (see screenshot at right). The app automatically declutters the screen as the pilot zooms in.
