Sporty’s Pilot Training App Adds New Video Lessons and Test Prep for 2027

The 2027 update to Sporty’s Pilot Training app adds new flight-training videos, updated FAA knowledge test preparation, and expanded ways to study for the checkride. The latest content helps student pilots connect ground-school concepts with practical flying skills, from the fundamentals of aircraft control to takeoffs, ground reference maneuvers, and cross-country navigation.

The update also builds on Sporty’s Aviation Intelligence℠ tools, including new ways to practice for the oral exam with ChatDPE.

New Flight Training Videos

Sporty’s continues to expand its video instruction with new lessons designed to help students prepare for flight lessons and build skills in the airplane.

Four Fundamentals of Flight

Two new 4K video lessons cover turns, straight-and-level flight, climbs, and descents. Additional Air Facts segments explore these essential skills through real-world flight-training experiences.

Takeoffs

New 4K video combines aerial footage and in-cockpit views to demonstrate the takeoff process, including the REACT memory checklist.

Ground Reference Maneuvers

New lessons cover rectangular courses, S-turns, and turns around a point, showing how to maintain ground tracks while accounting for wind.

Cross-Country Flight

Follow a Cessna 172 on a cross-country flight between three airports, putting flight-planning skills into practice with pilotage, dead reckoning, GPS navigation, digital charts, ADS-B, and autopilot technology.

Expanded Flight Instructor Focus

Sporty’s Flight Instructor Focus segments put students in the cockpit with a CFI who demonstrates maneuvers step-by-step, explains common errors, and shares practical tips for checkride success. New segments cover power-off stalls, power-on stalls, and the Four Fundamentals of Flight.

Updated Test Prep and Smarter AI Tools

Sporty’s continues to update its Private Pilot Knowledge Test preparation with the latest FAA test material, helping students prepare for the questions they’ll encounter on the actual exam.

The app’s Aviation Intelligence tools provide additional ways to study and prepare for the checkride:

ChatCFI – Your Digital Flight Instructor

Ask aviation questions throughout your training and get explanations to help clarify difficult concepts.

ChatDPE – Practice for the Oral Exam

ChatDPE now offers four modes for checkride preparation:

• Study Mode – Review questions with answers provided.
• Practice Mode – Work through questions with coaching from a CFI.
• Checkride (Easy) – Experience a simulated checkride with coaching from the examiner.
• Checkride (Hard) – Answer questions completely and correctly on the first try.

These options let students review material, work through challenging questions, and practice responding under the pressure of a simulated oral exam.

Updated Apple TV and Roku Apps

The Sporty’s Pilot Training apps for Apple TV and Roku feature a refreshed interface and a new home-screen option that makes it easy to resume a course right where you left off.

Eric Radtke

It was his first airplane trip at age seven that made Eric decide to become a pilot. "While boarding the airplane, a flight attendant noticed my interest in the flight deck and urged me to go talk to the pilot. I give a lot of credit to that pilot for my career choice."
