Big update to WingX Pro7 now available

Hilton and the developers at WingX Pro7 have been busy the past few months, releasing several updates that add new features and improve the user experience of the popular EFB app. In addition to TFR enhancements in the app, these updates also add a few flight training resources for student pilots and expand the hardware support for Stratux ADS-B receivers. Here’s a look a what’s new.

Stadium TFRs – The app now displays pertinent information for sporting event TFRs across the U.S. After tapping one of the red TFR rings, you’ll see information about MLB and NFL games, including start times and the teams playing. This is really helpful when flying in unfamiliar areas where you may not be aware of the location of large professional sports stadiums.

Business and FBO locations on airport diagrams – When viewing airport diagrams you’ll now see the locations of FBOs and airport businesses presented with blue pin markers on airport diagrams. Tap on one of these to the details of the business, including address, phone number, hours of operation, amenities and more.

Send flight plans from AOPA flight planner – pilots who use the AOPA flight planning website now have the ability to download their flight plans and load them into WingX Pro.

Airman Certification Standards (ACS) – student pilots and those working on an instrument rating can now access the new Airman Certification Standards (the replacement for the PTS) in the documents section of the app.

Stratux firmware updates  pilots flying with Stratux can update the firmware of this ADS-B receiver right from WingX. Go to the moving map screen, tap on the arrow at the top right of the screen, select external hardware, select Stratux and then tap on the firmware info.

In addition to these new features, WingX’s server infrastructure also received an overhaul. These improvements result in faster and more reliable downloads, plus flexibility for future capabilities down the road. The company is encouraging all pilots to upgrade as soon as possible, as they’ll be phasing out the old servers down the road.
