Three iPad seminars this weekend at Sporty’s Fly-in
The annual Sporty’s Pilot Shop Fly-in is this Saturday, May 17, at the Clermont County Airport (I69), located just east of Cincinnati, OH. In addition to the 2014 RV-12 sweepstakes winner selection, there will be a variety of seminars throughout the day. Three of the seminars will cover the iPad:
11am – Advanced iPad Flying – Bret Koebbe, iPad Pilot News
This popular presentation will cover a wide range of topics for those using the iPad in the cockpit. You’ll learn how to take advantage of hidden iPad features, review a full legal briefing on using the iPad for electronic charts, learn about the iPad preflight steps you should be taking before every flight, and see a variety of ForeFlight Mobile tips and tricks. Also covered are iPad accessories and cockpit mounting options, including ADS-B weather receivers.
12:30pm – What’s New at Garmin – Jim Laster, Garmin
Learn about the latest panel-mount and portable products from Garmin, including the GTN 750/650 navigators and GDL 88 ADS-B transponders, but also the Garmin Pilot app. Attendees will also learn the essentials of ADS-B, including how to receive subscription-free weather and traffic using the portable GDL 39 ADS-B receiver.
1:30pm – A Few Scenarios with ForeFlight – Jason Miller, ForeFlight
This seminar is designed to make you proficient with mobile technology for aviation by presenting a series of scenarios that show how best to use the ForeFlight Mobile app. The presentation will take you from start to finish using ForeFlight on a cross-country flight, where you’ll learn how to initially set up the iPad, check weather, pick a route, download data, get organized and more.
