Flight Advisory – GPS testing near Florida coast may lead to unavailable GPS signal

The FAA does periodic testing of GPS which can result in unreliable or unavailable GPS signals in specific regions of the country. The next testing session is scheduled for May 4 - 13, and centers around an area 70NM east of Jacksonville, FL. Here are the details.

The new Stratus weather receiver generated a lot of interest at the recent Sun 'n Fun Fly-in in Florida. One of the questions that comes up first is, "when will my area get ADS-B coverage?" The good news is that the FAA is rapidly building out the ADS-B ground network, and 16 ground stations just went live.
