SkyTimer app adds multiengine airplane support

SkyTimer is one of our favorite apps for managing one of the two of the most important aspects of any flight: monitoring flight time and tracking fuel. The app will track total time, time out, time off, and time on each fuel tank. Using the fuel burn you entered when creating an aircraft profile, SkyTimer offers updated endurance estimates, fuel load in each tank, and total fuel burn. It’s simple, but it’s well designed—easy to read in flight and visually clean.
Last year, the app added a collection of new features to take advantage of the latest iPhone and Apple Watch features, including the iPhone’s Dynamic Island and WatchOS 10 Smart Stack.
The most recent update expands the capabilities even further, adding support for multiengine airplanes, fuel configuration reminders, test flight mode, and the ability to export trip data. Here’s a look at what’s new.
Multiple Tanks and Engines
SkyTimer now supports up to 7 fuel tanks and up to 4 engines, allowing you to model fuel configurations for a large variety of aircraft. The app’s intuitive graphical interface makes setting up even the most complicated multiengine airplane easy.
You’ll specify fuel flow for taxi/takeoff/cruise, number of engines, number of fuel tanks and how the fuel tank selectors are arranged. Here’s an example showing what it looks like to set up a Piper Aztec, which has two engines and four fuel tanks:
Fuel Configuration Reminders
You can create reminders to change fuel configuration based on many criteria, such as time-on-tank, active tank fuel use, fuel level, fuel transferred and more.
Test Flight Mode
The new Test Flight Mode allows you to test the aircraft you set up in SkyTimer easily. Time is sped up 10x to allow you to experiment with settings and receive reminders.
Export and Edit Trips
SkyTimer saves detailed logs of the fuel details from each trip. You can now edit past trips and keep your logbook updated by sending trips directly to LogTenPro or exporting them in CSV format.
