New E6B app available from Sporty’s

Sporty’s E6B app features an all-new design and incorporates numerous improvements based on pilot input.

Sporty’s Pilot Shop released an all-new version of its best-selling E6B app today, adding a redesigned interface, improved functionality and several new features. Based on Sporty’s popular handheld E6B Electronic Flight Computer, the E6B app has been completely overhauled to make the most of iOS on the iPhone and iPad. The software is based on the tried and true formulas and algorithms developed over the years by Sporty’s team of over 50 pilots.

The app includes 22 aviation functions, 20 conversions, a clock/timer feature and powerful weight & balance calculator. The new version includes a slide-out menu, which keeps all the functions organized and accessible from anywhere in the app. The app also includes numerous improvements to the app interface, including larger text and entry keypads to make the app easier to use in the airplane.

Sporty’s E6B app makes quick work of navigational, weight and balance, or fuel problems, and is a favorite of student pilots. But it also includes a number of features that are useful for experienced pilots, like Top of Descent, Specific Range and Planned Mach #.

Pilots will especially appreciate the new weight & balance calculator, which makes computing aircraft loading a breeze. The app allows you to create and store multiple aircraft profiles, and then quickly edit the various weights and arms for quick calculations. After adding the weight of the pilot and passengers, fuel and baggage, you’ll instantly see your takeoff weight and center of gravity (CG). It’ll also compute zero fuel weight and landing weight, and performs an instant analysis to confirm that you’re within limits.

The app is available as a free update to existing Sporty’s E6B app owners, and can be purchased from the iOS app store for $9.99. It’s compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, and requires a minimum of iOS 6.
