Plenty of iPad seminars at AOPA Summit 2012

AOPA SummmitSporty’s will once again be presenting its popular “Flying with the iPad” seminar at the 2012 AOPA Aviation Summit in Palm Springs, California. The annual show kicks off October 11 with three days of seminars, exhibits and the famous “Parade of Planes” static airplane display. The event is known for its in-depth learning experiences, and Sporty’s is proud to once again be part of the program.

This year Sporty’s will present two editions of iPad 101. This information-packed seminar is perfect for the beginning iPad pilot, with information about buying the right iPad, finding the best apps, adjusting settings and using accessories like external GPSs and weather receivers. If you’re already an experienced iPad user, bring your iPad with you for this interactive hour, as we’ll share some advanced tips that you can try on the spot.

iPad 101 is presented Thursday, from 10:30am to 11:45, in the Catalina/Madera rooms, and again on Friday from 3:15pm to 4:30 in Primrose B-D rooms.

In addition, Sporty’s will also participate in a session at the Learning Pavilion in the Exhibit Hall. This seminar, New Apps and Tools: iPad Weather Options, will cover the exploding options for in-flight weather on the iPad. Topics include choosing between XM Weather and ADS-B, what to look for when buying a system and tips for easier operation in the cockpit. The even takes place Saturday from 1:00pm to 1:30pm.

For serious iPad pilots, well-known flight instructor Jeffrey Robert Moss and Torea Rodriguez from Flying Like the Pros will be presenting Advanced iPad: Tips and Tricks for Becoming an Expert. This in-depth seminar will go beyond the basics and explore how to get the most out of your iPad, with a special emphasis on using the iPad during instrument flights. The Advanced iPad seminar is Thursday at 1:30 in Catalina/Madera and again Saturday at 1:30 in Primrose B-D.

Finally, Moss and Rodriguez will present another Learning Pavilion demo, titled New Apps and Tools: Beyond the EFB. This shorter seminar is Thursday at 1pm on the Exhibit Hall floor.
