Sporty’s adds 3 new courses to Pilot Training app
Sporty’s released their new Pilot Training app at the end of 2017, bringing an all-new training course concept to iPhone, iPad and AppleTV. The app was created to replace their first-generation training course apps to take advantage of the latest in mobile app development technology and add some cutting-edge new features.
Another key feature of the Pilot Training app is that it’s designed to keep all your courses organized in one location, with room to grow as new courses become available. It initially launched with Sporty’s 3 most popular flight pilot training courses, including Learn to Fly (Private/Sport/Recreational training), Instrument Rating and Flying with ForeFlight.
Each course includes downloadable video content, test preparation, review quizzes and study guides. Best of all you can access each course on whatever device is most convenient, iPhone, iPad or AppleTV, and your progress automatically stays in sync. Each course also includes access to an online version accessible from any computer web browser.
The latest update to the Pilot Training app adds 3 new courses to the training platform: VFR Communications, IFR Communications and Garmin G1000 Checkout.
IFR Communications
You will visit several types of airports including rural, non-towered airports along with the high-density Chicago Midway airport. See and hear first-hand the demands of each flight and how the pilots effectively manage all available resources to complete each flight. Also included are sections designed to refresh your knowledge of IFR communications, as well as a review of communications during emergencies.
VFR Communications
This comprehensive course covers all types of communications, including Air Traffic Control, non-tower fields, and emergency situations. Detailed scenarios cover every aspect of both arriving and departing Class B, C and D airspace. It also includes a special section on non-standard communications that you’ll hear in the real world so you’ll know what to expect after your checkride.
Garmin G1000 Checkout
Ideal for both VFR and IFR pilots, or as a refresher for current G1000 users. You’ll learn all the “buttonology,” from GPS direct to full instrument approaches. The course’s scenario-based training goes beyond button pushing and emphasizes real-world use of the system. It also provides access to a PC-based Garmin G1000 simulator to practice using the system on a computer.
