The world’s largest airshow starts next week in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, with over 10,000 airplanes descending on Wittman Airport for a week of flying demonstrations, new product announcements and plenty of hands-on learning. Right on cue, EAA recently released the 2023 AirVenture app for iOS and Android to help you plan your trip and make the most of your visit to Oshkosh this summer.
The app builds on the designs from the past few years and uses a simple, clean design and allows you to easily browse air show schedules, forums, exhibitor lists and services available on the airport grounds.
You can browse the main Schedule section of the app to view the events taking place each day. The listing includes a detailed description of the event along with the ability to add it to your custom schedule. You can filter each listing by day of the week, or use the top search bar to find specific events based on event name, keywords or the name of the presenter. This works really well since it searches the event descriptions too, allowing you to find exactly what you’re looking for.
As you’d expect there’s a full list of Exhibitors, which is searchable and identifies the location of the company’s exhibit on the Airventure grounds and hangar maps. You can also filter by product or service type, allowing you to find all the exhibitors offering aviation headsets, for example. You can also favorite any of the exhibitors or venues to add them to your custom list.
The dedicated Maps section includes a complete collection of detailed maps to help you find your way around the grounds:
- EAA AirVenture Grounds Map
- Camp Scholler Map
- EAA Four Corners Map
- EAA Bus Routes and Times
- Transportation/Shuttle Map
- Emergency Communication Posts
- Interactive Exhibitor Map
- W-Fi and Charging Stations
You’ll find a lot of useful tips and planning information in the More section of the app. The Getting Here and Getting Around section includes full details for getting to Oshkosh by car or airplane, including the full NOTAM, and shuttle routes and schedules for the trams on the show grounds. Make sure to check out the Features and Attractions section for a comprehensive list of EAA points of interest and activity centers. We’ve been going to EAA AirVenture for decades now but still managed to find new things to check out in this section of the app.
After installing the app on your device, make sure to Log in with your email address from the top of the More screen. This will allow you to sync your favorites and custom schedule between your iPhone and iPad. Also make sure to enable in-app notifications, which will allow the app will send notifications regarding activities, weather, and important schedule changes from the app home screen or main navigation menu.
