iPad Mini with retina display now available
Apple quietly began accepting orders for the new Retina iPad Mini this morning. Orders placed today are showing shipping times of 1 to 3 days, but don’t expect this quick delivery estimate to last for long, as reports indicate that Apple has a constrained supply of these new models. This upgraded iPad Mini adds a high-resolution retina display, with the same pixel count as the iPad Air. It also includes the new A7 processor, providing performance improvements comparable to the iPad air. The form factor is nearly identical to the original iPad Mini, and adds only a .01″ of depth and about 0.05 pounds–hardly noticeable.
The 16GB model starts at $399, with an extra $100 for each increase in capacity and then an additional $130 to add cellular data and GPS. Apple’s online store has a nice page set up to help you compare iPad models.
