How do you deal with the lighting in a bright cockpit? Can’t see my screen in my 152. Please advise.
Jack, the best bet is to just play with the angle of the screen to see if you can eliminate glare. Also, make sure you have the screen brightness all the way up (in the Settings app). Finally, you might consider a glare-reducing screen protector: https://ipadpilotnews.com/2013/05/an-ipad-glare-reduction-filter-that-actually-works/
When I fly, I wear a light, tan fishing vest with survival gear in it. When I fly into the sun, it reflects off the vest and blanks out the iPad screen. The anti-glare shield (as promised) does little to cut glare. I use my checklists to shield the sun, and that helps. But it is not a good thing to be doing – looking intently down at the iPad instead of outside.
I plan to dye (or, spray paint?) the front of the vest to cut reflectivity. Maybe you could darken the inside of your 152’s cockpit?
