GREAT QUIZZ
Not only are these abbreviations good to know for ForeFlight, but you also need to know them without ForeFlight.
I’m an 88 yr old former general aviation pilot now flying a Cessna 414 in a MSFS2020 home built simulator. My last real airplane was a Cessna 340 last flown in the 1990’s. I took the quiz but could only recognize the acronyms by looking at the choices. I’m astounded by the amount of fight information the digital age is providing and wondering, if I were flying real airplanes today, how much of it I would have to understand – and/or use? Seems overwhelming. How did I keep from killing myself back then using paper charts, VOR, and sometimes no navigation or weather information at all until reaching radio reception altitudes (flying to and from an island in the Atlantic south of the Bahamas). No cell phones then either. Just dumb luck (and dead reckoning) I presume.
That’s why they call it dead reckoning! But seriously- the tech aids and acronyms can create PBA. (Paralysis by Analysis) and be TMI.
Technically it was Ded for deduced reckoning. Yeah I’m so old my DPE was taught to fly by Wilbur Wright. LOL
Hi Dave, it’s great to see you’re 88 and still “flying” in a Sim. Kudos to you. Have fun with it. Curt
