iPad Troubleshooting: Do you know how to fix these potential problems? You got out of 11 right!

  1. I don’t use the iPad…have a Nexus 7 with Android, using Avare. But the answers appear pretty much standard for my device as well. I answered based on what I would do with the Nexus, I got 10 of the 11 questions right. Missed the one on the elevation limit (I guessed 12k, instead of 10k). Also noticed that my Nexus has a greater temperature range and longer battery life than the iPad.

  2. Both my tablet and my phone are Android and with the same GPS app. I enter the flight into both and leave the phone on and charging during the flight. If my tablet has any problem, I switch to my phone.

However, in addition to having a panel mount GPS, I maintain situational awareness and take appropriate charts along so I don’t really “need” the tablet. I’ve just been spoiled by its bigger screen and friendlier operation.

  3. “What is the best course of action if your aviation app continuously shuts down in flight and will not open?”

Lets not forget this can be a huge distraction in the cockpit. Risk will go up and it’s important to remember to fly the aircraft with Aviate, Navigate, and Communicate. We all have a responsablitiy to see and avoid so don’t for get to look for other aircraft during this event, You don’t want to spend too much time fiddling with this between visual checks and scanning outside.
