Learn all about the iPad at seminars from ForeFlight, Garmin and Sporty’s.

The annual Sporty’s Pilot Shop Fly-in is this Saturday, May 18, at the Clermont County Airport (I69), located just east of Cincinnati, OH. In addition to the 2013 Legend Cub Sweepstakes winner selection, there will be a variety of seminars throughout the day. Three of the seminars will cover the iPad:

11am – Flying with the iPad – Bret Koebbe, Sporty’s Pilot Shop

This popular presentation will cover both beginner and advanced topics relating to the iPad. You’ll learn how student pilots can use it as a training tool, how aircraft owners can use it to stay organized, and how current pilots can use it for navigation, weather and charts. See how to properly preflight the iPad, along with helpful tips and tricks. Also covered are iPad accessories and cockpit mounting options, including ADS-B weather receivers.

12:30pm – Garmin GPS & ADS-B – Michael Kerrigan, Garmin

Learn about the latest panel-mount and portable products from Garmin, including the GTN 750/650 navigators and GDL 88 ADS-B transponders, but also the Garmin Pilot app. Attendees will also learn the essentials of ADS-B, including how to receive subscription-free weather and traffic using the portable GDL 39 ADS-B receiver.

1:30pm – ForeFlight iPad Pro Tips – Tyson Weihs & Jason Miller, ForeFlight

This seminar is designed to make you proficient with mobile technology for aviation, on the ground and in the air, using the iPad and ForeFlight Mobile. You’ll learn about the safe operation of the iPad and accessories in the cockpit and introduce best practices for becoming proficient with ForeFlight–including chart management, pre-flight planning, and using GPS moving maps and instrument procedures.
